Joint solutions with practical applications for renewable energy use in cross-border area
The RESolution project represents a collaborative effort within the Interreg VI-A Romania–Hungary Programme. It aims to advance sustainable energy approaches and improve environmental conditions across the cross-border region by encouraging cooperation between Romanian and Hungarian stakeholders to deploy innovative renewable energy tactics and efficiency improvements.
Common Challenge
The initiative tackles the shared difficulty of moving toward a carbon-neutral, secure, and self-sufficient energy infrastructure in the Romania–Hungary border zone. This objective corresponds with the Interreg VI-A Romania–Hungary Programme's commitment to lowering greenhouse gas output and boosting renewable energy percentages, in line with both nations' 2030 National Energy and Climate Plans.
The region has notable capacity for geothermal district heating and solar power generation. However, the programme acknowledges that although the renewable energy potential is substantial, this potential is not fully exploited.
Overall Objective and Expected Change
The initiative seeks to unlock this unrealized capacity through advanced energy techniques. Its goal centers on boosting energy effectiveness and expanding renewable energy deployment, helping achieve Europe's target of minimum 32.5% energy efficiency improvement by 2030.
Anticipated outcomes feature a more equitable power infrastructure, diminished environmental consequences, and greater energy performance in civic facilities, supporting the EU Green New Deal's aspiration toward EU Climate neutrality by 2050.
Local work, measured against European commitments.
Main Outputs and Beneficiaries
Beneficiaries encompass local authorities, event organizers, public building operators, and the broader community in the cross-border region, who will gain from improved energy solutions and sustainable practices.
Békéscsaba
HU · WP1
Increase Békéscsaba's capacity to utilize renewable energy by deploying two LiFePO₄ batteries.
Oradea Metropolitan Area
RO · WP2
Transform the Metropolitan Centre into a model for urban renewable energy, integrating geothermal and PV.
Approach and Need for Cross-Border Cooperation
The project reflects a transnational framework, vital for tackling shared energy problems and ecological responsibility. Such collaboration permits exchange of data, materials, and proven methodologies among Romania and Hungary, promoting creative solutions and delivering a unified response to mutual energy obstacles.
The Interreg Programme underscores such cooperation's importance:
Investments in regenerable energies under the Interreg VI-A Romania-Hungary Programme may contribute to create a favourable, enabling, environment for further developments of the renewable energy in the area.
Innovation and Originality
The initiative presents creative and original components addressing energy and environmental matters in the Romania-Hungary cross-border zone, matching the Interreg VI-A Romania-Hungary Programme's tactical aims.
Békéscsaba
Innovative Use of Mobile Batteries
A distinctive feature involves employing mobile batteries powered by sun energy. Given the Programme's recognition of high photovoltaic generation capacity regionally, this tactic provides a versatile mechanism for energy accumulation and grid equilibrium, notably during peak solar generation intervals.
Békéscsaba
Comprehensive Hydrogen Strategy
Formulating a hydrogen approach and establishing a green hydrogen infrastructure in Békéscsaba marks a revolutionary undertaking. This approach aligns with Europe's commitment to clean energy and positions Békéscsaba as a trailblazer in transitioning to minimal-carbon systems.
Oradea
Renovation of Renewable Energy Centre in Oradea
The initiative encompasses upgrading a renewable energy facility in Oradea, combining geothermal and solar power strategically. This update exemplifies energy-conscious construction practices and demonstrates combining various renewable sources for peak productivity and responsibility.
Joint
Tailored Strategy and Action Plan
Generating a coordinated approach and implementation roadmap for responsible mobile battery application constitutes an original undertaking. This roadmap functions as a template for present efforts and a framework for coming responsible energy ventures, guaranteeing enduring consequences and evolution.
